Review: Aztec Secret Indian Healing Facial Clay

Health & Beauty - Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask Tub
Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay - Green Bentonite Clay Powder
I saw this face clay around over a year ago but steered clear thinking it was simply a gimmick product like a perfume called 'mermaid tears' or body shimmer called 'fairy dust'. It wasn't until it popped up in one of Simply_Kenna's Cruelty-Free Products video that I finally thought I'd give it a shot. The Aztec Healing Clay comes in a screw top tub, as seen above, which I paid around £9 for a 1 Lb tub from Amazon. There was a mixture of reviews on the site which made me a little hesitant but at such a cheap price I decided to go for it.

The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Facial Clay has multiple uses and benefits, including removing dirt and impurities from pores. It's deep cleansing properties are miracle workers for the minimized appearance of pores and brightening effects on the skin. Bonus factor- it's 100% natural Calcium Bentonite (Green) Clay.
How can you use it?
  • The tub says the clay can be used for facials, acne, bodywraps, foot soaks, baths and insect bites. Personally, I have only used it on my nose, around my lip area and on acne as those are my problem areas.
  • To use, simply add equal parts of the clay with raw apple cider vinegar or water to form a smooth paste.
  • To mix, it's required to use a non-metal bowl and utensil
  • Make sure no liquid gets into your tub of product so the rest of the clay powder doesn't ruin.
  • Once the mixture is smooth, apply to problem areas and let dry. For delicate skin let the mix sit for 5-10 minutes and 15-20 minutes for normal skin. It will feel tight and may even have a warming effect on your skin.
  • Once ready to remove, rinse off with warm water.
  • Once removed skin will have a redness to it for around 30 minutes but soon disappears.
  • Use once a week, or more often for problem areas.
This product has become a must-have in my skincare regime and I use it once a week. Because you are mixing it yourself, at times it is a little tricky to get the consistency right and in the first few uses you can potentially waste quite a bit of the product. My advice to avoid this would be to start with the smallest amount and go from there, even if that means mixing up a new batch if you don't quite have enough for your use. I have to say, overall I am super impressed by this product and its' quality. I would recommend to anyone who wants to give their skin some extra TLC.

My New Dream Cream: Tropics Night Repair

Night Repair
cell renewal cream concentrate
Tropic - Night Repair

On a recent trip to my grandparents, I noticed my nan had the Tropics night repair cream: one of the few skincare products by the brand that I was yet to try. As the trip was pretty impromptu I had forgotten quite a few of my toiletries so it was the perfect time to try it out. I used the repair cream in place of my skin revive cream which I use after my toner.

The cream itself is of velvety consistency making it easy to apply but also incredibly silky and gently on the skin. When creams are too thick I find myself trying to spread and smear it across my face in all different directions, which can often stretch and take its toll on the skin. With this product there is none of that, it simply glides on without a fuss.

Tropic Products - Organic Elixir & Night Repair

Having been so impressed by the hydrating nature of the cream, I decided to kick it up a notch and mix with a little of the organic elixir. This is something suggested on the packaging and after using it I can see why. The combination is so luxurious and nourishing, it is honestly the dreamiest of combos. With the repair cream full of hydrating ingredients, such as Aloe Vera Juice, Murumuru Butter, and Shea Butter, as well as the blissfully calming mixture of Lavender, Ylang-Ylang and Blue Chamomile essential oils make this product the ultimate repair cream for your night time routine.

Body Love with Tropic

*If you haven't already read my Tropic post or know who/what Tropic is then you can do so here
Tropic Products - Body Love and Body Smooth
Tropic products, Body Love and Body smooth
Here are two of my favourite products I use in my everyday routine from Tropic, Enjoy!
Tropic - Body Smooth, refreshing polish

Body Smooth, refreshing polish
Body Smooth is the founding product of Tropic. (It is the first product that Susan Ma handmade in her kitchen and sold in Kilner jars at Greenwich market). With a blend of rich sea salts and invigorating essential oils, this product is perfect to smooth dry skin and get your skin silky, soft ready to flash some flesh in that little black dress. I particularly love using this product on my upper arms, lower legs, and knees: all of which I get super dry patches of skin.

To use this product simply apply and massage onto dry skin before hopping into your shower or bath. Rinse off and then massage excess oils into the skin.

Tropic - Body Love, Firming Buttercream

With ingredients such as Cocoa Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, and Shea Butter, Body Love is guaranteed to give your body all the hydration and nourishment it needs. It's quickly become my holy grail product and has even worked miracles on noticeable lumps, bumps, and scars I thought would never disappear. I particularly love slathering my skin with this after using the Body Smooth.

Just like any other body cream, apply daily after your shower or bath to hydrate skin with the added bonus of a velvety finish.

I love both these products as individuals, but also love using them together. I find the quality of these products to be so luxurious, especially for their price point and the fact that they are 100% naturally derived.

Book Review: Skin Cleanse

The Simple, All-natural Program for Clear, Calm, Happy Skin
Skin Cleanse book - the simple, All-natural program for clear, calm, happy skin
Just like many of the books I read, Skin Cleanse by Adina Grigore had been lurking on my Amazon Wishlist for months before I received it for my birthday. Having already started the process of going all-natural with my toiletries and skincare for little over 6 months, I was seeking guidance in a big way and so this book couldn't have fallen into my hands at a better time.
Skin Cleanse - a map of your skin illustration
Adina talks her reader through every aspect of adopting the simple, all-natural body care routine in an easy, jargon-free way. When reading you honestly feel as though she's sitting telling you this over a coffee. Through the 8 chapters, she educates you on not only how to identify problematic products, but also how to weed them out of your routine and find another little gem to slip in its place (-usually something you already have in your kitchen, I might add). She teaches you how and the importance of keeping food and product journals to notice triggers for your skin and body. The book also contains so many vital lessons and tips on how to read and decipher ingredient labels to identify those little nitty-gritty buggers you really don't want going onto your skin, and then being absorbed by your body. Another aspect I really didn't anticipate to read in the book was how your ancestry, environment and how your great-grandmother lived, can affect your own lifestyle and body (truly fascinating and educating chapter).
Skin Cleanse book - Chapter 7 be your own apothecary
Adina also has created and provided her reader with a whole chapter based around becoming your own apothecary and making your own effective, and all-natural, products right out of your kitchen cupboards. I mean the power to clear, healthy skin is right at your fingertips and once you read Adina's insights on how to do so you'll never look back, trust me!
Skin Cleanse Book - so much in common, head to toe illustration
Overall this book has been an amazing read and became my best friend/bible/guru all in one. I love the entire approach of this book and the way it's been written. The easy-to-read affect but also the important message that your body absorbs everything you put on it; so it's important to pay attention to those ingredients and how your body reacts.

Beauty: Cinderella x MAC

So of course Cinderella is the newest addition of live action movies disney have produced. I, personally love live action movies and have been waiting for more from disney since Alice in Wonderland (2010). In light of this new release, MAC have released a new line of products for the film.

Now i have to admit i've never been a MAC girl. *moment where every woman gasps in shock and clicks off, totally disgusted*. I'm not sure why this is, i just never really liked MAC all that much. Maybe i didn't inherit the MAC gene like every other girl on the planet? Or maybe it's where i grew up in stage school community and was constantly plastered in heavy stage make up; which as great as it was, sometimes was really irritating especially for my sensitive skin. Nevertheless i've never been a huge fan, until now.

I was recently talking to a friend, when she mentioned MAC's new makeup line for the Cinderella release. Now i don't know whether i'm a little late on the times with this news, but i was completely surprised by this development and couldn't get my tush over to MAC's website fast enough! All the products seem to have a great write up and report, I mean it's not no kiddy make up! I love the pretty packaging. Out of all the products though, i'm absolutely loving those shades in the stroke before midnight eye palette, think i may have to get my hands on one of them bad boys!

A fan of MAC? What do you think of this collection?
