About

Hello I'm Jaime-Leah, but you can call me Jam.
I'm a 20-year-old student residing in the South-East of England, with my eccentric family. Though I am from the small, historic town of Rochester -more commonly known as Charles Dickens Country- I'm a sea soul at heart and whenever I am well enough will be found exploring my favourite coastal spots or chilling at my beach hut. My best friend comes in the form of a black lab called Myles, among some other two-legged folk too. I'm a part-time student, full-time spoonie* and an aspiring writer, supporting messy hair and last weeks pyjamas.

I have suffered from multiple chronic illnesses', including ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia, since 2010. These illnesses' are extremely debilitating and infringe themselves on every aspect of the sufferer's life. As a result, I am now housebound and bedbound: meaning I am rarely able to leave the house adequately dressed (i.e. not in pyjamas, showered, non-bedhead). It's a lifestyle that has been forced upon me and although it may seem a pretty dandy way of life to outsiders -this couldn't be further from the truth. Over the years I have been recommended to surrender my firearms, let whatever be, be and own it while my body heals. Through the years of frustration and numerous dark days of ill health, I decided I needed a space I could commit my creative energies to and give me a purpose through the rough patches. In short, whatsinadeck is entirely that.

Whatsinadeck is a reflection of myself, my interests and lifestyle. It is a place of creativity, not revolving around my health but rather living on in spite of it. My identity goes further than my health and this space reflects that; whilst also aligning with my creative passions for writing and photography.

As an animal lover, whatsinadeck predominantly features cruelty-free beauty and skin care posts; usually being made from organic and natural ingredients. Another constant feature is book reviews, along with anything else I have stumbled across and loved in the form of the written word. This space is also home to much miscellaneous lifestyle posts, including some photo diaries of days out or trips away, and even the occasional outfit or fashion post. As you can tell this space is a little all over the shop -a true reflection of its curator.

If you have any questions or want to know anything I haven't covered in the above, feel free to email me or leave a comment below.
Cheerio for now!
